God is Sovereign! A Reminder From An Art Katz Quote

art-katzIn the current environment of LGBTQ bullying of the Church, and of our ministry, First Stone Ministries currently being threatened, and now the battle of laws trying to be passed in California to stop pastoral care and counseling people with unwanted same-sex attraction, I was reminded of the sovereignty of God. He has seen this day!  He knew it was coming. I will trust in the Lord fully even when things do not go the way I think.

I take great comfort that there is also the final chapters in the Bible in Revelations 21 & 22 when the righteous shall be rewarded, and the unrighteous will have their just penalty. Today, I was reminded of one of my talks with Frank Worthen after a Restored Hope Network conference in Portland, OR. We were talking about Exodus history.  It was a wonderful conversation. I reminded Frank of a recording I had listened to from the 1980 Exodus Conference. The keynote was Art Katz. Our Lord in His love warned Exodus in 1980 through Art Katz. Frank remembered that Art Katz called for the complete abandonment to Jesus as Savior and that there must be a complete surrender to Jesus as Lord.  He remembered, that Art Katz said that people wouldn't ever be set free without a complete surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord. It was so true, and unfortunately a message many are not getting today. God has been so kind over the years, He warned Exodus leadership, and yet God saw the demise of Exodus International as well. It is history now, but Exodus imploded and closed under the poor leadership of Clark Whitten's antinomianism and Alan Chambers' re-embracing a gay identity with his unfettered lusts towards men. This has caused many to grieve. Even in this last week, I have been contacted by grieving friends, seeing a blog post from Alan Chambers' former failed gay vice-president, Randy Thomas, who now calls me a bully because I pointed out the Biblical truth to another so-called "gay Christain."  Of course, another source of great sadness because real love grieves over their terrible choices of embracing sin. Yet there is a comfort that God will not be mocked. Ironically, Randy Thomas cannot bring himself to quote Gal. 6:7 in context in calling me a bully. The truth is, when men sow to their corrupt flesh, in loving their sexual perversion, they will from their flesh reap more corruption and even destruction, as it is written:

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.  Gal. 6:7-10

We must encourage one another to not grow weary as God sees the end.  He knows.  We must be faithful to the end, in trusting HIM fully with what may come, even if it is more persecution. It was certainly painful to see the Exodus implosion, but our Father brought about something better with the new wineskin of the Restored Hope Network. What a blessing these past 7 years to work on the board of directors and see God's goodness.  However, this is also a stark reminder that if we violate the ways of holiness, God can and will replace us with others who will be faithful to the end.
