Hello Steve:
I have been working in little ole MT with my church and now beginning to push into other churches about beginning to address this issue from a non political point of view.
Here in Missoula we have a very large and politically active gay community. We have gay clubs in all three high schools and something called Diversity Week in two of them.
I think I am not to far away from having something similar to offer as this type of conference that you are putting on.
Can you feed me some more details about the workshops? things like live or dvd recordings, where do you get the teachings for the understanding homosexuality workshop, how to minister workshop, etc.
Currently I am setting up meetings with other local pastors as well as raising the visibility in my own church (A of G). I welcome any input you have.
Blessings to you.
Hello Jennifer!
This is a one day seminar. There is a specific endeavor to reach out on this particular day to the Black Church / Community Leadership. I am very excited to announce that Janet Boynes (http://janetboynesministries.com), author of Called Out will be joining us to teach Segment Two and participating through out the seminar in all the discussion times. Janet will also be in Oklahoma City for Sunday Morning testimony and teaching time in a local TBA church.
I will be teaching Understanding Homosexuality and the Theology segments.
Laura Leigh Stanlake, our staff women’s minister will be teaching the How Shall We Respond segment. We will all be on the panel discussions along with a local pastor who is working with our ministry and a parent TBA.
The entire seminar will be record on audio, not sure yet about video.
The plan for this one day seminar is to repeat it often in as many churches as possible using the FSM staff and other skilled and knowledgeable leadership from within Exodus Member Ministries and local church leadership.
I hope this help answers your questions. Please let me know, if you need more detail, please feel free to email me at: stephen {@} firststone.org (broke address so it will not be spidered by spammers. BTW… the AG church really needs to have this type of seminar in every local community.
